When I moved to Tucson in 2013, I applied to intern at the Museum of Contemporary Art. I was quickly hired by the museum to design graphics as well as install exhibits. My audio and video experience was unparalleled in the Tucson area and my background in art gave me the perfect foundation for working in a museum space. It was very exciting to design posters for world renowned contemporary artists Carlos Bunga and Janaina Tschäpe. Some of the artists allowed me to work with them to execute their visions, such as Alois Kronschlaeger with his piece Basin and Range.
In 2014, I was tasked to prepare the museum space for the annual gala. I transformed MOCA’s Great Hall into a blue sea of color amplified by reflective tinsel. Projections of artist Janaina Tschäpe‘s films were displayed on two twenty foot tall walls. The event was attended by over 500 guests and a few performers including a marching band.
In 2015, I applied for an ongoing annual grant worth $120,000 for the museum. I was successful in securing the grant and have since helped other non-profits apply and receive the same grant.
