Radio Now was a project I founded to provide news segments completely free from advertisement and underwriting. Segments were delivered on an irregular basis and often at irregular lengths. The funding for Radio Now was to be provided only by individual donors and fellowship grants so that it could stay independent from corporate sponsorship. The idea was to provide an open-source news feed for independent stations to rebroadcast, free of charge. The logo was designed to be flexible and simple. I decided to base it on a font with a thick and heavy weight. The round serifs on the letters give the logo a friendly feel that lends to users imagining a slight retro experience, while feeling trusting and comforted by the boldness and other aspects of the design.
